About five years ago we were instructed by our assistant superintendent to remove distractions from our classrooms. Obviously that is an issue in a visual arts room. So, I removed anything that hung from my ceiling. I have found hanging objects to be very distracting to all of my learning support students. Therefore, I only have a few bulletin board scattered throughout my room. These three are permanent residents and there seems to be no need for change at the moment. I document the current objectives on my white board so that I can change them intermittently. I also display three different posters that I change yearly; they show a landscape, portrait, and still-life. Seeing that an art room can become cluttered and messy in of itself, I try to keep bulletin boards to a minimum.
